Ruth has always had a passion for saltwater and nature. She retired from 35+ years in the fish business where she traveled the world buying and selling seafood. After retirement, Ruth moved to Florida and took a restock of her life.  Realizing that she loved to grow things, she became a Florida Master Gardener and started planting tropical fruit trees and orchids.  Her outlet for form and color was ceramics. For several years, she played in clay, taking classes at the Jupiter Lighthouse Art Studio.  She created in clay and planted her 2+ acres with fruit trees.

A drawing class and water color class changed her whole orientation to color.  Working on expanding the right side of her brain, Ruth took a random class in fused glass.  She found her niche!  She could create color and form without the time pressure of clay. A gift from a friend of a glass kiln cemented her glass journey and she started creating with fused glass.

Glass n Grove was formed in 2025 primarily as a means to support Ruth’s glass journey.  The need to create is ongoing and now there is an outlet for the creations. 

Whimsy Chains, beaded single strand mobiles, with their fused hearts, pendants, dog paws etc., are other creations that Ruth shares with her sister.   ‘Grove’ is developing as Ruth sells bud wood for grafting and fruit from her trees.
